DEVELOPMENT OF POTENTIAL OF INVESTMENT ATTRACTIVENESS OF THE NATIONAL ECONOMY OF UKRAINE IN THE CONDITIONS OF GLOBALIZATION
Abstract
The article analyzes the volume of foreign investment in the economy of Ukraine and identifies the largest foreign investors. An analysis of the country’s investment attractiveness index over the past five years has been conducted. The volume of foreign investment in certain sectors of the national economy and the most attractive sectors for foreign investors were determined. Systematized the main problems that hinder the attraction of foreign and domestic investment in the economy of Ukraine and proposed ways to overcome them, which in turn will help improve the investment climate and will contribute to the development of the investment potential of the country. At the present stage, in conditions of structural reorganization of the economy of Ukraine, the intensification of investment activity is particularly important. The most popular form of investment for the country’s economy is foreign direct investment, because it allows the implementation of large and important projects. Despite minor positive shifts in the process of investment activity in Ukraine, the investment climate of the country remains rather unfavorable for capital expenditures. In the conditions of transformation of economic relations in the country the constraints to the development of investment and innovation activities continue to exist. According to research by the European Business Association, the year 2020 for Ukraine was characterized by a rapid decline in the index of investment attractiveness to 2.51 points out of 5 possible, which leads to conclusions about the unfavorable investment climate for foreign investors. That is why, to date, the issues related to improving the investment attractiveness of the country remain relevant. Specifically, the need to introduce measures to stabilize the legal and political environment, overcome bureaucratic barriers, improve tax legislation, provide tax incentives and also fight inflation and corruption, which will allow the country to reach a new level of competitiveness and ensure the fundamental development of the Ukrainian economy.
