WORLD AUTOMOTIVE INDUSTRY IN CONDITIONS OF DEFICIENT SITUATION OF SEMICONDUCTOR PRODUCTS: MAIN FACTORS AND PROSPECTS

Abstract

The article discusses the quantitative and qualitative trends of the production and sale industry of semiconductor products at the present stage of development of multinational economic relations; specifies the features of supply chains of semiconductor chips as intermediate products, depending on the industry of the consumer of such processors - final electronic products manufacturers. With the help of such methodological tools as the method of generalization, explanation, categorical and statistical methods: the category "semiconductors" is generalized for the purposes of this study, the main characteristics of the microchip market in regional and sectoral sections are given and the main factors influencing the production of such products are given. The main objective of the study is to determine the key factors of the supply deficit position of the global semiconductor market in the contracting market during the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic and the response corresponding directions to such situation of one of the largest consumers of microprocessor components - the global automotive construction industry as an example of supply chains multinational “bottleneck situation”. The pandemic, as a unique exogenous factor of influence on business activities, turned out to be an unprecedented situation for the chip market, which, due to the multinational nature of the organization, a wide order network and global marketing, is a good example for research in the context of its response and wide impact on international business relations in the context of the critical sectoral state. The practical value of the study lies in the processing of knowledge in the field of corporate actions in the context of a crisis in supply chains of critically needed products from suppliers of the oligopolistic contracting market. The topic of global delivery is acquiring particular importance in the context of the processes of consolidation and joining efforts of automotive concerns through various tools of corporate interaction, which should facilitate the capital-intensive development of production technologies, including semiconductor technologies, the promotion of which is intensified at an accelerated pace as a result of increased competition in the direction of electrification and digitalization of transport.
