THE ROLE OF FARMING IN AGRICULTURE IN POLTAVA REGION

Abstract

Farming is an important part of agrarian production in the current economic environment. Not only the villagers’ rations depend on the level of development of this economic sector, but also to some extent the food security of the country. Farms of this category are easily adaptable to the market conditions and demand. They are receptive to new economic relations. The usage of farm reserves will contribute not only to the increase of the production of commodity products, but also to the attraction of additional labor resources, the growth of real incomes of rural people. The main purpose of the article is to determine the place and role of farms in agricultural production in Poltava region. Investigation of the factors, trends and state of agricultural production by the farmers of the region. Identification of potential opportunities and prospects for the development of farms. The study used monographic, design, analysis and synthesis and graphical methods of research. A comprehensive analysis was conducted. The dynamics of the total number and size of farms in the Poltava region for the years 2000-2018 were under study. It is established that each year there is an increase in the average size of farming lands. It indicates an increase in the concentration of production. Farms have a number of advantages, compared to other forms of management, which stimulates their development in the country. In particular, today their share is almost 10% in the structure of farming production in Poltava region. Farms specialize in growing grain, pulses and sunflowers. Producers are encouraged to grow these products by a stable demand in the domestic market. It is important to underline that farms are steadily increasing number of cattle and livestock production. However, the potential of the farms and their capacity are not fully exploited. There are significant prospects for their development. Further development of these farms is impossible without innovative development. The most promising direction of development is cooperation, which will allow to implement innovations and optimize marketing activities.
