SUSTAINABLE AND SAFE DEVELOPMENT OF TOURISM AS ONE OF THE CRITERIA FOR TRANSFORMING THE COMPETITIVE POTENTIAL OF TOURIST INDUSTRY SUBJECTS
Abstract
The article examines the sustainable and safe development of tourism as one of the criteria for the transformiтg the competitive potential of tourist industry subjects. A review of the literature on the study of sustainable and safe tourism development was conducted. Unanimity has been established in the opinion that the sustainable development of tourism implies an optimal relationship between the ecological load of tourists on the environment, social needs (or social responsibility) and economic development. The entire article consists in researching the sustainable and safe development of tourism as one of the criteria for the transformation of the competitive potential of of tourist industry subjects. Three types of relationships in the system of sustainable development of the tourism industry were proposed:: environmental protection – social needs; social needs – economic development; economic development – environmental protection. Adherence to such ratios will ensure a balanced development of the tourism industry by meeting the needs of consumers in quality services, preserving the environment and the tourist potential of destinations, and obtaining economic benefits from the activities of the entities of the tourism industry. It was established that safety is an important indicator of the development of the tourism industry. It was concluded that the tourist attraction of the destination is necessarily accompanied by ensuring the safety of tourists, compliance with regulations and quality standards of tourist services. The sustainable development of tourism is aimed at protecting the cultural and historical heritage, which must be preserved for future generations; favorable environment for living and traveling, reduction of anthropogenic load on the environment from the development of the tourism industry; reproduction of natural resources as a prerequisite for tourist attraction and their protection; investing in tourist infrastructure facilities, receiving economic benefits by the subjects of the tourism industry and the management bodies of tourist destinations. Therefore, an important task in the post-war period is to change the stereotypes of the perception of Ukraine in the international tourist space as a country of military operations to a safe destination open to tourists.
